# Facts

PREMIUM and ULTIMATE feature. Save clear preferences, routines, and other specific details without creating contradictory entries.

Use **Facts** for short, concrete information: a preference, an occupation, a routine, or another detail that should stay accurate. It answers **“What particular thing is true?”**

A fact can be about your roleplay identity or another subject in the book. It does not have to describe your real life.

## What belongs here

| Topic                              | Example                                                         |

Aim for one subject per entry. Two related tea preferences can sit together; an occupation, three relatives, a room layout, and a festival recap need different homes.

## Create a Facts entry

1. Select **Facts** and **+ New**.
2. Choose a title that identifies the subject.
3. Name the subject and relevant terms in the description.
4. State the fact clearly in Content.
5. Select **Save**.

**Title:** `Rowan's tea preference`

**Description:** `Rowan, favorite tea, mint, no honey`

**Content:**

This is enough. You do not need to expand a simple fact to fill the available space.

## Write facts clearly

Prefer named subjects and specific wording:

| Unclear               | Clearer                                                      |

| Works nearby          | Rowan is a mapmaker at the workshop beside Asterfall Harbor. |
| Goes there every week | Rowan visits the harbor archive on Thursday afternoons.      |
| Doesn't like it       | Rowan dislikes very sweet drinks.                            |

Avoid relative dates when the meaning needs to last. “Next Friday” becomes ambiguous later. Use an actual date or put a current plan in **Open threads** instead.

## Correct a fact in one place

Suppose Rowan now prefers lemon tea:

1. Search for `Rowan tea` or open the tea entry in Facts.
2. Change Content to “Rowan prefers lemon tea without honey.”
3. Update the short description so it also says lemon.
4. Select **Save**.
5. If you previously customized this entry's keywords, open **Keywords**, replace any outdated `mint tea` keyword with `lemon tea`, and save the list. [Custom keywords](/lorebooks/keywords.md#automatic-and-custom-keywords) do not refresh automatically after text changes.
6. Check for other active entries that still describe mint as the current preference.

If your companion suggests the correction, compare **Now** and **Suggested**, then choose **Accept** only if the change is right. Dismissing it leaves the current entry in place. [See reviewing changes](/lorebooks/reviewing-changes.md).

A historical Chronicle scene can still correctly say Rowan drank mint tea on a past occasion. A current preference and a past event do not need to say the same thing.

## Avoid turning a guess into a fact

“The archive might have a copy” is a possibility, not a settled fact. Keep it as an Open thread: “Ask Ellis whether the archive has a copy.”

Likewise, distinguish “Rowan tried lemon tea once” from “Rowan's favorite tea is lemon.” Review what the conversation actually established before saving the stronger claim.

## Choose Facts or another section

Use **Cast** for a person's overall identity, **World** for the setting, **Relationship** for shared expectations, and **Chronicle** for a dated occurrence. A focused preference or practical detail usually fits Facts.

Pin a fact only if you want it consistently available. Lock it when you want to prevent your companion from changing it. Most ordinary facts can remain unpinned and unlocked; they still belong to the book.
